This enlightening slide program will take the participant into the hidden world of non-verbal communication.  For most, non-verbal communication is viewed on an unconscious level.  When properly understood, verbal and non-verbal communication can help recognize and minimize potentially dangerous situations.  It is a must see program for educators.

 

Why kids can’t, won’t or don’t learn

Much attention has been focused on why young people perform poorly on state exams or are dropping out of school, 25%-30% drop out annually.  “Raising the bar” has been a widespread response to improving poor performance and I think we might be “missing the boat.”  This powerful slide program examines 15-20 issues that seem to be neglected by the “experts” in their rush to improve student performance. 

 

Stopping Hate & Promoting Tolerance

 Intolerance, racial and ethnic violence in America’s schools is growing.  This slide program is based in part on a program developed by the Southern Poverty Law Center.  A great deal of research has gone into identifying steps that schools and communities can do to reduce hate and promote tolerance. 

 

Weapons of Mass Destruction

As frightening as the title might be, the reality today is that schools can be targeted.  Some of these weapons can be and have been produced by students.  Our students have access to all the information needed to create a chemical bomb from household products, at a cost of around $4, from the library or Internet.  Even more frightening, it has already been done.

Why Schools Can Expect More Riots in the Future – Long Island schools have experienced at least 7 of riots in the past year. Some were covered by the media and some were not. Is this the beginning of a trend? I believe it is. The program addresses many of the risk factors that are currently present in schools that could trigger a riot and at the same time offers proactive steps schools can take to reduce the risk. (Program length 2 hours)**

The Dangers of Rioting (A Student’s Program) –Students are often caught up in the moment and give little thought to either personal risk or consequences. This slide presentation focuses on both the dangers and consequences of participating in a riot. It provides warning signs of an impending riot and steps that can be taken to leave as quickly as possible.
